This page has an extensive list of ways to make donations to the earthquake and tsunami disaster relief efforts in Japan. I have made sure only to add charities and programs that have been vetted and recommended by reputable new agencies. I beg you to give generously. Put your compassion and concern into tangible action for the devastated people of Japan.

Information on Text Message Donations
I have read that online monetary donations vis credit card or paypal are actually the fastest and most effective ways to donate. Text donations have become very handy and popular and while they are certainly a very good option, it can sometimes take up to 90 days for the money to be turned around (since a lot of this has to do with phone billing cycles). However, I understand some people are still a bit leery of putting credit card information online so I will share these other options for some of the aforementioned charities.

♥ Save the Children is accepting donations via mobile phones; text JAPAN to 20222 to donate $10.

♥ Global Giving encourages Americans to donate by texting JAPAN to 50555 to give $10.

♥ Text REDCROSS to 90999 (USA) or 30333 (Canada) to donate $10 to Japan.

♥ World Vision is accepting text donations. Text “4JAPAN” to 20222 to send a $10 donation to the group.

♥ Those interested in contributing $10 to The Salvation Army can text “JAPAN” or “QUAKE” to 80888.

♥ To contribute to International Medical Corps’ efforts, text “MED” to 80888 to send the group a $10 donation.

♥ Mercy Corps is receiving mobile phone contributions. Text “MERCY” to 25383 to donate $10.

♥ Text “TSUNAMI” to 50555 to make a $10 donation to Convoy of Hope

    Fantastic list!

Just an FYI: Two of your links have extra code — a repeated “http://” at the beginning — that makes them dysfunctional. Those are the “World Vision” link and the “Quake and Tsunami Relief From the Associated Press” link.

Also, two links seem to be broken: the CNN Tsunami Aid blog post, and the iTunes Donation info page. Worth checking out.

Thanks again for compiling and maintaining this list! I’ve been linking to your lists from my sidebar, but I’ve now updated to link to lead my readers to this page.

Good luck with the YouTube project! Keep us posted.
